“That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” – Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

Many would say that this excerpt from Carl Sagan has an exceptionally poignant, luminous quality. Does it stir up feelings of solidarity? Does it nudge you into a recognition of the interconnectedness we share as a species? Hold that feeling within you as we take you deeper into compassion for Earth and what we can collectively do!

When it comes to our Earth, being extra mindful about practising compassion is crucial. Glossing over the suffering that we notice often results in a downward spiral. As inside, so outside. When we do not properly redress the pain that we feel, we externalise it through means such as retail therapy, which produces waste that further damages our environment and the suffering around us. In response, we feel greater pain. Additionally, our lives are becoming increasingly more complex, causing us to experience more conflict and stress. As we brush aside all these pains, the suffering outside and inside us compounds.

Hence, we believe that we must…

“Heal ourselves, heal the Earth.” We believe that the sustainable way to saving our planet is to look within ourselves and resolve our inner conflict, instead of rushing to relieve it by externalising that suffering. Not only will you feel better, you will prevent the Earth from suffering too!

Healing is never easy, but it is always worth the effort. And when it comes to our health and our Earth, we should spare no expense.
